Achievements as on ending November, 2014.
- 1. Orders issued by the Government for the issuance of two certificates OSCs/OBCs simultaneously in favour of Castes which are included common in the both the lists of Castes in State as well as in Centre.
- 2. The Land for the Establishment / Construction of OBC Boys Hostel at Jammu has been transferred by the Government and acquired at village Ghaink opposite BSF Bt. HQ , Tehsil and District Jammu and the work for construction shall be started in near future as and when funds will be released, whereas the process for the acquisition of land at Srinagar is under process.
- 3. The income slab for the issuance of OSC/OBC certificate has been enhanced from exiting Rs. 3.00 lacs to Rs. 4.50 lacs at par with the Government of India.
- 4. The Income Slab for providing of scholarship to OSCs/OBCs students has also been enhanced at par with the Government of India
- 5. The OBC’s Sub Plan tentatively for Rs. 30.00 lacs for each District for the year 2013-14 has been formulated by the respective District Development Commissioners which is under consideration in Planning & Development Department for final approval.
- 6. An exhibition for Artisans made Goods has been held in collaboration with State Handloom Development Department at Kashmir Hatt Srinagar.
- 7. The Government has issued the order for obtaining a Quantifiable data with regard to the Village-wise population of OBCs in the State vis-a-vis to obtain / ascertain the Socio-Economic and Educational status of the OBCs in the State. This is one of the historical steps taken by the Government for empowering the OBCs since Independence.
- 8. Instructions issued by the Revenue Department for the correction of Castes based Revenue Record on case to case basis for the Issuance of OSC/OBC certificate.
- 9. The Land for the construction of composite Bhawan for OBCs has been identified at Kot Balwal along with ST/SC/PSP Bhawan
- 10. The posts for staff in the Board have been created and the staff has been posted accordingly.
- 11. The two buildings one each at Jammu and Srinagar have been hired for the establishment of OBCs/OSCs Hostels (Boys). The funds have been released for establishment of these hostels and are to be started shortly.
Besides this, the following issues are under active consideration of the State Government:-
- 12. Enhancement in Reservation for OSCs/OBCs from 2% to 4%
- 13. Providing of vocational training to OSCs/OBCs youth.
- 14. Including of all castes as identified by the Mandal Commission.
- 15. Enhancement of income slab from 4.50 lacs to 6.00lacs
Achievements till December 2013

- The income slab for the issuance of OSC/OBC certificate has been enhanced from exiting Rs. 3.00 lacs to Rs. 4.50 lacs at par with the Government of India.the Government of India.
- The Income Slab for providing of scholarship to OSC.OBC students has also been snhanced as per with the Government of India

- The Department of Sociology, University of Kashmir has been entkrzcsted the job by the Government vide letter No: SWD/OBC/01/2013 Dated:- 26.11.2013 for obtaining a Quantifiable data with regard to the Village-wise population of OBCs in the State vis-a-vis to obtain / ascertain the Socio-Economic and Educational status of the OBCs in the State. This is one of the historical steps taken by the Government for empowering the OBCs since Independence.
